Terms of Service

01This agreement

These Terms form a binding agreement between you and Raqam ("we", "us") covering the Raqam mobile applications, web app and website (together, the "Service"). By creating an account, downloading the app or using the Service, you accept these Terms. If you do not accept them, do not use the Service.

Our Privacy Policy is incorporated into these Terms by reference. If you use Raqam on behalf of an organisation, you confirm you are authorised to bind that organisation.

02Your account

• You may use Raqam entirely offline with no account. An account is only required for sync, web access and scheduled reports.
• You must be at least 13 years old (or 16 where local law requires) to create an account.
• You are responsible for the accuracy of your account details and for keeping your credentials secure.
• You are responsible for activity under your account. Tell us promptly if you suspect unauthorised access.
• One account is for one person. Do not share credentials.

03Licence to use Raqam

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use the Service on devices you own or control, for your own personal or internal business record-keeping.

You may not copy, modify, reverse-engineer, decompile, resell, sublicense or create derivative works from the Service, except where that restriction is prohibited by law. All intellectual property in the Service — software, design, brand, name and marks — remains ours.

04Plans and the free tier

Raqam offers a Free plan and a Premium plan. Current inclusions are listed on our pricing page and summarised here:

We may adjust the composition of each plan, but we will not remove a materially significant feature from a plan you are actively paying for during a term you have already paid.

"Unlimited" means unlimited ordinary personal use. We reserve the right to apply fair-use limits to automated, abusive or commercially disproportionate volumes, and will contact you before taking any action.

05Billing and renewal

• Premium is offered as a monthly or yearly subscription. Prices are shown in your local currency before you confirm.
• Purchases made in the iOS or Android app are processed by Apple or Google. Their payment terms apply and they hold your payment details, not us.
• Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each term at the then-current price, unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the term ends.
• Taxes are added where applicable by law.
• If a payment fails, we may retry, then downgrade the account to Free. Your data is never deleted because of a failed payment.
• We may change prices with at least 30 days' notice by email and in-app. A price change takes effect at your next renewal, and you may cancel before then.

06Cancellation and refunds

You can cancel any time from your Apple or Google account subscription settings; we also link to it from Settings → Subscription. Cancelling stops the next renewal — you keep Premium until the end of the term you have paid for.

Refunds for app store purchases are handled by Apple or Google under their policies. Where you have bought directly from us, you may request a full refund within 14 days of purchase, and we will grant it without argument. Where local consumer law gives you a stronger right, that law applies.

07Free trial

Premium may be offered with a 7-day free trial. Unless you cancel before the trial ends, it converts automatically into a paid subscription at the price shown when you signed up. One trial per person. We will remind you before the trial ends.

08Your content

Everything you enter — expenses, notes, receipt images, budgets, categories — is yours. We claim no ownership of it.

You grant us only the narrow licence needed to run the Service: to store, process, transmit and display your content back to you and to your other signed-in devices, and to process receipt images and text so the AI features can return a result. That licence ends when you delete the content or your account.

You are responsible for the legality of what you upload and for keeping your own exports. We keep backups for resilience, but you should export periodically if the data matters to you.

09Acceptable use

Do not use the Service to:

• break the law, launder money, or record or facilitate fraudulent transactions;
• upload malware, or attempt to breach, probe or overload our systems;
• scrape, crawl or bulk-extract the Service, or use it to build a competing product;
• resell access, or share one account across an organisation;
• upload content you have no right to upload, or that infringes someone else's rights;
• circumvent plan limits, trial limits or payment mechanisms.

10AI features and their output

Receipt scanning, natural-language entry, insights, forecasts and coaching are produced by automated systems. They are usually accurate and occasionally wrong.

• Confidence scores are an estimate, not a guarantee. Review extracted fields before saving.
• Forecasts and recaps are projections from your own history and are not promises about the future.
• You remain responsible for the accuracy of your records, especially where they are used for tax, expenses claims or accounting.

11Not financial or tax advice

Raqam is a record-keeping and analysis tool. It is not a bank, a payment institution, a licensed adviser or an accountant, and nothing in the app constitutes financial, investment, tax or legal advice. Decisions you take based on Raqam's output are yours. For advice about your situation, speak to a qualified professional.

12Availability and changes

We aim to keep the Service available, but we do not promise uninterrupted access. Maintenance, outages at our providers, and factors beyond our control can interrupt it. Note that the core of Raqam works offline, so an outage usually affects sync and AI features rather than your ability to log expenses.

We may add, change or remove features. If we discontinue the Service entirely, we will give at least 90 days' notice, keep export working throughout, and refund the unused portion of any paid term.

13Termination

You may stop using Raqam and delete your account at any time from Settings. We may suspend or terminate an account that materially breaches these Terms — for serious or repeated breaches immediately, otherwise after notice and a reasonable chance to fix it. Before terminating for breach, we will give you an opportunity to export your data unless the law prevents us.

Sections that by their nature should survive termination — content ownership, warranties, liability, governing law — survive it.

14Warranties and disclaimers

We provide the Service with reasonable skill and care. Beyond that, and to the maximum extent permitted by law, the Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be error-free, or that AI output will be accurate or complete.

Nothing in these Terms limits rights you have as a consumer under mandatory local law.

15Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses, loss of profits, loss of goodwill, or loss of data where you had a reasonable opportunity to export it.

Our total aggregate liability arising out of or relating to the Service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) USD 50.

We do not exclude liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded.

16Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which Raqam is established, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory laws of your country of residence and may bring proceedings there.

Before formal proceedings, please write to us — the overwhelming majority of disputes are resolved by a single honest email. If we cannot resolve it within 60 days, either of us may go to court.

If any provision of these Terms is held unenforceable, the rest remains in force. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it. These Terms, plus the Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between us.
